A unified Development Authority of Bryan County was established in the summer of 2005 after attempting to operate under the auspices of two boards, one for the south end of Bryan County and one for the north end of the county. This unified board established their goals and bylaws and got underway never looking back to their split functions. Since that time, the development of the Interstate Centre has been the primary focus of the Development Authority and, in the 3 years since its inception, the board has brought 7 businesses to the park resulting in a present day workforce of 500 employees with more to come. In addition, the park has expanded through purchase of an additional 505 acre tract under a public/private partnership with TPA Realty Services. This tract is known as Interstate Centre II. A third tract of an additional 297 acres which will be known as Interstate Centre III has been purchased and is currently being cleared. The total acreage of all phases will be be approximately 1081 acres.
The board is now expanding its' focus to include industrial development in other areas of the county and encouragement of the retail market development which in turn will support further industrial development.
