Bryan County is growing at a phenomenal rate in the business and residential arenas. It is an excellent location for employment. While it offers many employment opportunities within its boundaries, it is also within an easy commute to Savannah with its' many job opportunities in a variety of industries; Statesboro with its' university system opportunities; and Fort Stewart and Hunter Army Airfield with its' military and civil service opportunities.
Bryan County works closely with the Georgia Department of Labor in Savannah and they are instrumental in screening and providing applicants for new companies relocating to our area. In addition, the Georgia Quickstart offers a free program for new and existing industries to train potential employees. This program has been used for the training processes at several of our new companies in the Interstate Centre park. Oracal and Oneida have both taken advantage of this program and been very pleased with it.
Bryan County is also a proud participant in the Georgia Work Ready Program and is working diligently to achieve the coveted Certified Work Ready Community designation. This program provides grants and funding for local schools (high schools, technical colleges, 2/4 year colleges) to assess their training needs and establish programs to fulfill those needs. The funding will assist in increasing the skill level of the workforce. Specifically, it will increase the number of individuals in the workforce holding a Work Ready Certificate, ensure each county in the region earns Certified Work Ready Community status, encourage local employers to complete Work Ready job profiles and provide specialized training for the existing workforce.
