Bryan County offers emergency medical services, fire and public safety services.
Three major hospitals are located in Savannah, only minutes away by either I-95 or I-16. 

  • Memorial University Medical Center (MUMC) is an award-winning 530-bed academic medical center that serves a 35-county area in southeast Georgia and southern South Carolina.
  • St Joseph/Candler Hospitals consist of two hospital units. Candler Hospital has 331 beds and Saint Joseph has 305 beds. The combined SJ/C organization offers healthcare services across the entire continuum, including local and regional primary care, specialized inpatient and outpatient services at our two anchor hospitals, home healthcare services, as well as a wide variety of community outreach and education efforts throughout the region.

In addition to the Savannah area hospitals, Liberty County offers the Liberty Medical Center only 15 minutes from Richmond Hill and Bulloch County offers the East Georgia Regional Medical Center located in Statesboro.
In 2002, the number of physicians in Chatham county per 100,000 population was 289.7, compared to the 192.6 statewide average. Chatham County had 4.8 hospital beds per 1,000 population in 2004, which was greater than the statewide average of 2.7 hospital beds per 1,000 population.
